How to Keep Cool in Charleston

Shades of Charleston, Charleston, SC

If you live in the Charleston area, you know that summers can get hot. And by hot, we mean that every time you walk into a building with AC, you thank your lucky stars for the geniuses who invented it. While AC is truly a miracle, no one wants to spend all of their days inside when Charleston has so much to explore. That’s why we’ve come up with a number of ways to keep cool in the Charleston area on the weekends.

COOL PLACES

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND

Hot days are better at the beach! The cool ocean air on Sullivan's Island will provide you and your crew some relief from the heat. On a windy day head down to Station 28.5 to watch the kiteboarders take flight. After a full day, hop over to some of our favorite beach bars; Home Team, Mex 1, Poe's Tavern, Dunleavy's Pub and 450 Pizza just to name a few!

Pro Tip: Watch out for those delicious Game Changers from Home Team. Those frozen drinks will sneak up on ya!

Have access to a boat? Check out Capers, a short boat ride just north of Isle of Palms where the locals go! Capers is a great spot to get away with the family for a day.

FISHING

If you're into fishing in the Lowcountry flats, the intracoastal waterway has tons to offer! Did we mention it gets hot down here?! It's hard to beat a day of being on the water and catching some fish.
